About Us
The Mississippi Valley Human Resource Association (MVHRA) belongs to a network of over 450 professional chapters and 300 student chapters. There are approximately 80 members in our local chapter, covering several counties in southeastern Iowa and western Illinois. Our membership is open to local Human Resource Professionals and Business Managers and Owners looking for timely information on topics related to human resources management.
The Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) was started in 1948 when a group of professionals dedicated to the advancement of the human resource profession formed the American Society for Personnel Administration (ASPA), now known as the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM). It is a non-profit, individual membership association for human resource professionals, representing the interests of more than 115,000 professional and student members from around the world.
Our chapter meetings are typically held the first Wednesday of the month. Please see our meetings tab for more details on these programs. In addition to our regular meetings we also look forward to co-hosting several educational sessions with other local business and educational partners.
