    “Coaching for Performance Development – Management Skills Training”

    Presented by: Nancy Parli-Vallar, SPHR, SHRM – SCP

    Regional Human Resources Manager, Consolidated Grain and Barge Company

    During this presentation, Nancy will discuss the process and importance of successful coaching, feedback, performance conversations, performance improvement plans, performance appraisals and career conversations.  She will demonstrate how these skills are vital to enabling the development of employees in every organization.  Nancy will also provide survey results and generational needs that show how the workforce and the performance process have evolved over the years. 

    The learning objectives of Nancy’s presentation include how to:

    • Build managers skills in holding frequent performance conversations to improve delivery of business goals.
    • Set and communicate clear expectations of employees that contributes to business goals.
    • Master the delivery of effective, continuous feedback, both in-the-moment and in formal conversations.
    • Be specific, objective and candid in both formal and informal feedback.
    • Hold coaching conversations that focus on continuously enhancing future performance and closing gaps in performance.

    Speaker’s Background & Experience

    Nancy has worked with developing managers for 18 years.  She has worked 14 years in the staffing industry, starting out as an Onsite Manager for a large metals company in Rockford, IL.  Nancy was responsible for employee relations, recruiting, hiring, performance appraisals, coaching, corrective actions and customer service for this large client.  She was the HR partner for entry level, mid-level and senior level managers, assisting them in building skills to become great leaders – not just bosses.  Nancy has worked for CGB the past 4 years as a Regional HR Manager for 18 locations in Western Illinois.  She is responsible for all HR functions in the field for over 200 employees; including the HR partner for line managers up to the General Manager.  Nancy has developed, coached and trained managers in leadership skills essential to their success.  She writes curriculum, presents classroom trainings, creates online trainings and works with the Learning Team to support and strengthen all Divisions of CGB.
