Presentation Title: “Veterans in the Workplace”

Presentation Overview: During the presentation Matt will discuss the following: what is a Veteran, Stereotypes, why hire Veterans, tips for success, and other opportunities.  Matt will discuss his transition from active-duty military service to civilian employment.  He will share why his transition has been successful and what businesses can do to prepare their organizations to hire Veterans and retain them successfully.

• How to create an atmosphere that allows Veterans to be successful
• Tips to help Veterans thrive

Speaker’s Background & Experience:

Matthew Doty spent 25 years in the Iowa Army National Guard, over 20 years of which was in a full-time capacity.  During his time he had the privilege of serving in multiple leadership assignments to include First Sergeant and Command Sergeant Major where much of his time was devoted to “Personnel” (which is HR in the military) issues to include staffing, promotion, and discipline, satisfaction and retention, while at the same time working to contain cost for the employer.
