Presented by: Brandi Haight, Business Engagement Consultant & Robert Haege III, Home Base Iowa Program Manager with Iowa Workforce Development
Presentation Overview: Brandi will provide an overview of the IowaWORKS.gov platform and how to utilize it to post open positions within your business and how to use it to recruit new talent.
Robert will provide an introduction to Home Base Iowa, a statewide initiative that connects Veterans and transitioning service members with career opportunities and resources in Iowa. He will also discuss the SkillBridge Program, which allows service members to gain civilian work experience through internships and training during their last 180 days of service.
Participants in this presentation will understand:
- How to navigate IowaWORKS.gov to post job openings and manage employer accounts effectively.
- Strategies for using IowaWORKS.gov tools to recruit and connect with qualified talent across Iowa.
- An overview of Home Base Iowa and how your business can engage Veterans and transitioning service members as a talent pipeline.
- How the SkillBridge Program works and steps employers can take to host service members for internships and workforce training during their final 180 days of service.
Speaker’s Background & Experience:
Brandi Haight is the Business Engagement Consultant for Iowa Workforce Development. In her role, she specializes in partnering with local employers to understand and address their unique workforce needs. Her mission is to bridge the gap between businesses and talent by providing strategic support in areas such as recruitment, workforce development, training solutions, and labor market insights.
Robert serves as the Home Base Iowa Program Manager for Iowa Workforce Development, leading statewide efforts to connect Veterans and transitioning service members with career opportunities and resources. He partners with businesses and communities to strengthen Iowa’s reputation as a Veteran-friendly state. A former United States Marine, Robert brings a deep personal commitment to serving those who have served. With years of experience advocating for Veteran employment, he continues to make a lasting impact by supporting successful transitions from military to civilian careers.
