During this presentation, Skye will explain why identifying future leaders is critical to the success of any organization. As employees continue to change jobs on average less than every 7 years and with future retirements at an all-time high, succession planning is more important now than ever. Succession planning is also a great way to provide professional development opportunities and advancement for employees at all levels of the organization. In this workshop, participants will receive information and resources to create an effective succession plan.

Participants will learn how to:

• Deepen their understanding of why succession planning is important and how having a solid succession plan will boost your workplace culture
• Learn best practices for creating a people-centered approach to succession planning
• Identify the most important steps to creating an effective succession plan
• Receive a succession planning template and guidance on how to adapt it to your

  workplace

   

Speaker’s Background & Experience:

Skye Mercer, MBA, SPHR, SHRM-SCP is an Iowa-based, Virtual HR Consultant & Leadership Coach with nearly 20 years of professional HR experience. Skye provides HR Consulting and Leadership Coaching to organizations all over the US. Her mission is to support leaders with creating happy, productive, and compliant workplaces through proven HR and leadership programs.

Skye’s diverse HR experience- from managing national HR services for 3,000+ employees in a Fortune 500 company - to working as an HR Department-of-One for a 100-employee organization, helps her to understand and provide solutions to your unique HR challenges.

Among others, Skye has worked with:  The US Tennis Association, multiple counties in Iowa, US Airways (American Airlines), Netflix, and Comcast. Skye is currently a Small Business Consultant with the Iowa Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and an Instructor with the American Nonprofit Academy. Skye’s recent speaking engagements include the Iowa Employment Conference and presenting for the Nonprofit Learning Lab.

Skye is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and is a Society for Human Resources Management Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP). She is also a Certified Disability Management Specialist (CDMS), which requires significant expertise with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and Workers’ Compensation.
