“Alzheimer’s, Dementia and the Workplace”

During this presentation MVHRA Members will learn: about the signs and symptoms of the disease and how to recognize these symptoms in employees; long term strategic planning for employees impacted by Alzheimer’s and dementia; how to support an employee who is caring for a loved one; where to find resources and supports to help reduce caregiver employee absenteeism and stress; and succession planning for aging employees.
At the conclusion of this presentation attendees will be able to:
- Describe the signs and symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease and how to recognize possible symptoms in employees.
- Understand how long term strategic and succession planning for aging employees impacts the workforce.
- List resources and supports available to assist caregiver employees who are caring for a loved one with the disease or who are diagnosed with the disease that can assist with reduction of absenteeism and employee stress.
Speaker’s Background & Experience
Michelle Kelman has been with the Alzheimer’s Association for over 11 years and currently serves as the Senior Program and Event Coordinator for the Southeast and South Central Iowa areas. Ms. Kelman has served the Alzheimer’s Association in a variety of positions during her tenure including hiring, evaluating and supervising employees in multiple office locations. During the course of her career she has worked in the medical and dental fields, long term care and as a vocational adult educator. Ms. Kelman will present on “Alzheimer’s Dementia and the Workplace” sharing her expertise on the topic and how it impacts the workforce.
