    Drug Education 101: Signs, Symptoms and Trends

    Melissa Foster is the Supervisor of the Prevention Department at Alcohol and Drug Dependency Services (ADDS). Her presentation, “Drug Education 101: Signs, Symptoms, and Trends”, will provide MVHRA members with information on the signs and symptoms of drugs within the workplace, as well as provide up to date information regarding current drug trends in the local area and the nation. 

    Valuable information will be shared on the devastating effects that illegal drug use has on employees, organizations, and the community. Ms. Foster will explain techniques that employers can use to identify employees with substance abuse problems, as well as the latest drugs and drug paraphernalia that is being seen locally.

    MVHRA attendees will learn how to recognize the signs and symptoms of drug use, how to address concerns with staff members, and receive valuable information on the latest drug trends. She will have illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia on display, so as MVHRA members can learn through a more hands on approach.

    Speaker’s Background & Experience

    Ms. Foster has worked in the area of human services for 15 years.  She has been with Alcohol and Drug Dependency Services (ADDS) for 3.5 years and is the current Supervisor of the Prevention Department.  She provides technical assistance and education to local community organizations, businesses and schools regarding substance abuse prevention. 

    In 2013, Melissa Foster was named one of the top 40 Professionals under 40 in Southeast Iowa/West Central Illinois.
