Understanding & Meeting Workforce Needs through Federal Workforce Legislation

Deb Dowell, Regional Director of IowaWORKS One Stop Center
Deb Dowell will discuss the vision of the new workforce legislation focused on strategies and tactics that benefit and serve employers and workers and prepare for the future prosperity of Iowa’s communities. She will present an overview of services that are available to business to save time and money for regional businesses.
MVHRA attendees will learn how to:
Ø Access training dollars available for business to upskill current employees.
Ø Utilize state and federal incentives available to business to hire targeted populations.
Ø Train new employees your way while getting paid to do it through paid internships and on the job training.
Ø Save time & money by using IowaWORKS One Stop Center’s screening & assessment services.
Speaker’s Background & Experience
Deb Dowell has over 25 years experience in workforce development/workforce issues. As regional director of IowaWORKS One Stop Center, she is charged with creating REAL employer relationships, providing services that meet the needs of business- saving money and saving time. Her collaboration with business, labor, education and economic development has earned her recognition throughout the ten-state association for Workforce Professionals.
