    “Best Practices for Drafting Employee Handbooks”

    Presented by: Sarah M. DeFranco, Esq.

     Labor and Employment Partner with Akerman LLP  

    During this presentation Ms. DeFranco will discuss the benefits, risks, and costs associated with employee handbooks, as well as explain recent changes in employment laws that affect employee handbook policies.  She will go through various sample policies to discuss critical, recommended, and problematic language, and provide best practices for drafting employee handbook policies.

    In this presentation Attendees will:

    • Learn details about the essential and recommended policies to include in employee handbooks, and also learn about content that should not be included. 
    • Walk away with a roadmap of policies to include in employee handbooks.
    • Be provided with tips on policy language to utilize in their workplace employee handbooks.

    Speaker’s Background & Experience:  

    Sarah DeFranco, a Labor and Employment Partner with Akerman LLP, has nearly 15 years’ experience representing employers in employment litigation and counseling matters.  She provides employers with valuable day-to-day counseling on employment law compliance and litigation avoidance.  Based on her significant experience developing workplace policies and practices for multi-state employers, Sarah will present valuable insight regarding drafting employee handbooks.
